The lion that is used as the logo for Courage to Risk was named “Sy” as a tribute to Seymour (Sy) Wallach (1916 – 2008), a longtime and founding member of the Colorado Council for Exceptional Children before the Courage to Risk Conference began.  He served as the Hotel Chair for the conference until 2006.  The art work was commissioned by the committee and was designed by Patty Storm.
